Committee of the Whole

Senator Magill requested that the Graduate Curriculum Committee be reminded of the proper vetting required for courses to be submitted to the Faculty Senate for approval.  This includes a review from the catalog staff, as well as seeking approval from other departments/colleges for courses that overlap in content.

Senator Daugherity provided a brief update on the release of the SSN by the University.  He noted that the Campus Police have now assigned this to their Criminal Investigation unit, and that they are working with the IRS and FBI.  Senator Daugherity expressed hope that the University would release soon the auditor’s report on the incident.

Secretary Price requested that the Research Committee be tasked with reviewing the IRB requirements at the University.  Faculty have expressed concern that the IRB is extremely and overly restrictive, and is demanding application to areas beyond what is appropriate, including data that is publicly available and published on the University website .  Faculty are also concerned about the time required for the review process.

Adjourn

The meeting was adjourned at 5:04 p.m.
