Mission Statement
The mission of the Faculty Senate is to:
- foster a community of mutual respect and cooperation within the university;
- to facilitate effective faculty participation in academic governance;
- to broaden communication in matters of concern to the university; and
- to engage the faculty's skills in the guidance of the university's programs
How the Faculty Senate came to be:
The Faculty Senate was founded in 1983 by Dr. John J. McDermott, Professor of Philosophy and Humanities, and is the voice of the Faculty at Texas A&M University. It is the only body representing the interests of the entire faculty of TAMU, including the Health Sciences Center, the School of Law, and the Galveston and Qatar campuses.
